These two gals (also a mother and daughter team) are making a stack of beautiful beaded bangles.

Welcome to our shop!

Mother & daughter team

Hi, we’re Lane (mom) and Cara (daughter), full-time self-employed artists and jewelry designers. Our passion is designing fun and beautiful projects and then creating super detailed, step-by-step beading tutorials that will hold your hand every step of the way, teaching you how to successfully make those projects – regardless of your experience level.

Over 450 beading patterns

We’ve got something for everyone, from basic bead stringing to complex bead weaving and wire working projects. So far, we have created more than 450 beading tutorials for beaders of all skill levels to enjoy making, wearing, gifting, or even selling. We’ve also got a lot of new designs in the works that we’re excited to finish and share with you.

Team work makes the dream work

We’re very lucky in our relationship because we are not only each other’s best friends, but we balance each other in many small, helpful ways. For example, Lane loves to stage the artsy finished jewelry photos (and sometimes adds a drawn whimsical critter for fun). Cara loves to put all the little beads away from the messy design trays (each is a job the other loathes). And, as we each work on our designs, we’re always helping each other whenever the other needs it, whether to hold the camera when an extra hand is needed or to offer calm support when a design is particularly challenging.

We’ve each created a curated collection of projects (by designer) that are our favorites for one reason or another. As we were putting these lists together, it was surprising to see how much we’ve influenced each other over the years. But best of all is remembering all the fun we’ve had making these designs and tutorials together and sharing them with you!

Bead & Button designers

We have been fortunate to have many of our original designs published in Bead & Button Magazines.  We’ve also had two of their favorite designs of our’s published in two of their hardcover Creative Beading books (volumes 12 & 13).

About our beading patterns

Great instructions that hold your hand each step of the way!

Each beading pattern features detailed, step-by-step instructions written in a clear, simple, conversational style. A full-color close-up photo also accompanies each step, showing what is happening (annotated when applicable to illustrate stitching direction or highlight relevant details). Our beading patterns also include a detailed materials page specifying everything you need to do the project (including bead types, sizes, quantities, and any required tools and findings). Most patterns also now include a special notes section offering helpful tips specific to the design and bead color information for each color scheme.

A detailed materials page

That tells you everything you’ll need to make the project, including bead types, sizes, and quantities of all required beading materials and tools. Check out our next section for helpful tips on how to successfully customize your jewelry.

A bead legend

That shows where each bead is used in the project – which is very helpful if you choose your color scheme.

Bead color information

Our newer patterns include detailed bead color information that specifies the type, manufacturer, and color of all beads used in each color sample.

Please note that our earliest patterns did not include detailed bead color information for each color sample we made. If you purchase an older pattern and want color information for a particular jewelry sample, contact us, and we’ll do our best to help.

Special notes section

Highlights important things for you to know or keep in mind to succeed with the project.

Step-by-step instructions

We write each beading pattern with beginners in mind. Each step is explained in detail, so you never need prior beading experience.

Photo for each and every step

Each close-up, high-resolution, full-color photo is carefully taken to show exactly what’s happening in the step. We edit every photo to ensure they’re as bright and clear as possible and often add special annotations for further clarity.

Help if you need it

We had a saying in our classes, “No beader is left behind!” If you’re struggling with any section of a pattern, please reach out to us – we’re always happy to help. If (as a result of working with you) we feel there is a way we can improve the pattern, we will make any necessary improvements, send you a revised copy, and update the pattern online.

100% money-back guarantee

We want you to “bead happy”. If you’re less than thrilled with a pattern, don’t hesitate to contact us. At your preference, we’ll either do our best to address your concern or we’ll issue you a full refund – no questions asked. That’s our Bead Happy Guarantee!

Downloading, viewing, & printing patterns

It’s fun and convenient to view our beading patterns on smart devices because you can easily zoom in and out of pictures to get an even closer look at what’s happening.

If you’ve used many of our tutorials, you know we strive to photograph and explain each and every step, to ensure your success in completing the project.  In doing so, some tutorials can be quite long and contain many pages (particularly the more complicated projects).

Instant PDF Download

Upon completion of your purchase, your new beading tutorial will be automatically and “instantly” delivered to your email address as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file which you can then download, open, and conveniently view (and/or print) on your computer or handheld device. To learn more about our downloadable beading tutorials, including how to find and open your new beading pattern, please visit our “Help” section.

Viewing on a screen (PCs, tablets & portable devices)

You can easily view our PDF patterns on tablets and smartphones by using a PDF viewer app.  There are numerous free PDF viewer apps to choose from, depending upon your device’s operating system (i.e. Android, iOS, Windows, etc.).  We personally use Adobe Acrobat Reader on both our Windows and Android devices.  It allows us to view our tutorials in full color and high resolution, and it has several great features.  For instance; you can just swipe the screen to go to the next page, zoom in and out on a picture (so you can see it more detail), take it with you wherever you go (you don’t need wifi to view your downloaded content) – all without printing a single page!

Printed Patterns

We now offer the option to have your pattern printed and mailed to you for an additional fee. Just check the “Also print and mail pattern” check box above the “Add to Cart” button. Of course, you’re always welcome to print the tutorial yourself for your own personal use (no sharing, please).  If it’s a long tutorial or you’re concerned about ink use, you can set your printer in “Draft Mode” to use only 1/3 of the ink.

Available Languages

Our beading patterns are written in English. However, a lot of our patterns are now also available in French, German, Italian, and Spanish. If you purchase a PDF pattern and don’t see a download link in your desired language, please contact us, and we can see if we can make that available for you.

Sets and collections

Some folks love to coordinate their jewelry, and we enjoy creating designs that can be part of a complementary set or larger collection.

If our coordinating designs are similar enough, we will include instructions for how to make each piece in the same beading pattern, and we will indicate that in the pattern’s photo and description (for example: American Flag Necklace & Earring Pattern or Arachnophobia Spider Collection).

Otherwise, if the coordinating designs are substantially different (and the additional options and steps would make the pattern unnecessarily complex, or overwhelming for most beaders), we will take the time to make a separate pattern for each coordinating piece. Note: Some portions of the step-by-step instructions for coordinating pieces may be similar, or even identical, in places.

Beading kits are a fun and easy option

Our gift-grade beading kits are a great treat for yourself or a crafty loved one.

It’s so nice to have a high-quality kit that contains everything needed for a particular project, so you can jump right in whenever you’re ready (they’re perfect for traveling, too)!

Convenience: We offer beading kits of some of our most popular designs and colorways to save you the time and hassle of having to track down and order all the required components – often from multiple vendors, and incurring multiple shipping fees. You can be sure you are getting the exact, high-quality materials that we used to make the color scheme that you are interested in.

Peace of mind: Each gift-grade kit is put together by our family members in our happy home in Gig Harbor, WA. We take great care in building each kit making sure that everything is included, clearly labeled, and carefully packaged so you, or your intended recipient, will have a great beading experience.  If you ever have an issue with a kit, don’t worry, just reach out.  We’ll drop whatever we’re doing to help out or make it right, you have our guarantee!

Don’t forget the pattern: Based upon customer requests, our Beading kits DO NOT include the needed tutorial — which may be purchased separately.

Why? We kept hearing from customers that they wanted to be able to buy a kit without the added cost of the pattern. This is because they had already purchased the pattern in the past, either on its own or with a previous kit order.

So now, you can purchase just the kit (assuming you already purchased the pattern from us in the past), or you can choose one of three convenient options for including the pattern with your kit order.

  1. Receive the pattern as a PDF file we email you the day we ship your kit.
  2. Have us print the pattern for you in full color and include the printed copy in your kit order.
  3. Receive a flash drive with your kit order that has the PDF file on it.  A great option if you intend the kit to be a gift.

“Lane and Cara’s instructions and photos are the best I’ve experienced – they constantly amaze me with how easy they make bead weaving. This pretty poinsettia bracelet worked up fairly quickly and will look great with the matching earrings. I can’t wait to make the necklace!” – Mary
