DIY Beaded Crystal Headband & Beaded Side Hair Comb Pattern #346
A grandmother recently approached us and asked for a tutorial for a beaded side hair comb that she could make for her granddaughters for Christmas. She added that it must have some sparkle, “because they love that bling!” We loved her suggestion and the idea of incorporating crystals so it really “pops”. We also thought it would be fun if we could make the design work with headbands, for girls who prefer those. Our criteria was that the design; needed to be fairly quick and simple to stitch up (because, as it turns out, making these things are like eating potato chips - you can’t have just one), that it didn’t require any glue, and that it would work with common brands of hair accessories found at most box stores.
What we ended up with is crystal couture that will thrill both the young, and the young at heart. Whether made up with a solid color (using just one color crystal and seed beads) or as a bead mix (using up to four colors of crystals and seed beads) for more variety and a slightly more mature look, these beadazzled hair accessories are fun and easy to make, and they add a perfect touch of sparkle to whatever you wear. This easy to follow tutorial, which includes a detailed materials page, color information, over 50 high-resolution full-color photos and easy to follow step-by-step directions, will teach beaders of all skill levels, including absolute beginners, how to stitch up a beaded hair accessory in a mixture of all your favorite colors - either for yourself, or your lucky recipient(s). There won’t be any “bad hair days” with these beauties. Thank you for shopping Simple Bead Patterns, and bead happy!

Materials & Quantities Needed
Your purchased beading tutorial will include a detailed materials list of everything you'll need to make this project, including quantities and, in most cases, color information (see more about Bead Color Information below).
Substituting with Different Beads or Beading Materials
Many of our designs can be made using comparable beading materials. For example, if our pattern calls for 4mm round pearls, in most cases, you can use different types of 4mm round beads instead (such as 4mm round fire polished beads). Please note: If the pattern is for a bead weaving (or stitched) project, it's typically not recommended to use different sizes of beads than those recommended, as the original design may not work out as intended. You may also substitute recommended materials with your preferred brand (for example using Nymo vs. FireLine thread) unless otherwise noted for a specific reason. For example, if we specifically recommend using TOHO seed beads with a particular project, the project may not work out as well if you substitute and use Delica seed beads instead (which differ in shape).
Bead Color Information
We provide detailed information about the bead colors used for each of the color samples shown above on the Bead Legend / Color Key (or similarly named page) in your purchased pattern. If the tutorial you purchased does not include detailed color information for a particular color sample we used, we apologize (a few of our earliest patterns did not include this information and we no longer have those beads to reference, or they were discontinued by the manufacturer). If this is the case, please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to provide you with general color descriptions. Be sure to let us know which particular color sample you're most interested in.
