DIY Dog Collar Beaded Leather Beading Pattern #142
After designing the Mix Bead Collar for our tiny little rescue, I wanted to design something unique for my slightly larger “puppy”, a 98lb Doberman/Hound mix that Cara rescued for me a few years ago. We came up with a very cool design that is completely customizable. It looks like a loom project but is done with beading wire and No Loom! You can stitch in your pet's name or any combination of their name, fun symbols (like the hearts above), funny phrase (such as “Throw the Ball!” or “I Love Ruffin' It!”), or even your phone number and/or address (so you can eliminate their tag if you want). There's no end to the possibilities; you'll want to make several – I have! This is a great collar to show off your pet (not to mention your mad beading skills) so don't be surprised if you start taking your pooch for more walks about town! I made my pooch a Seattle Seahawks #12 Fan Collar & Santa's Helper collar!
This pattern, featuring over 60 high-resolution full-color photos and easy-to-follow step-by-step directions, will show and tell you how to make your furry, large breed friend a personalized collar 1” wide and anywhere from 18” to 24” long (keeping length proportional with the collar width). I include patterns (both wide & narrow) for each alphabet letter and numbers 0-9 as well as some punctuation marks and lots of fun symbols. I also offer some helpful tips for choosing successful color schemes, bead types, and finishes so you get a great result. This design uses a (1) inch standard plastic side-release buckle (just like the ones on most pet collars) so taking it on and off is a snap! This collar was designed to be both comfortable and durable and should hold up to regular wear for many years to come. Please Note: This collar was designed as “Pet Jewelry” only and should not be used or relied upon as a restraint, or as a collar you intend to attach a lead or restraint to for walks or any other purpose. That's my disclaimer : ) So go ahead, spoil your furry best friend with a custom collar that will make him or her look bead-utifle! Thank you for shopping Simple Bead Patterns, and as always, bead happy!

Materials & Quantities Needed
Your purchased beading tutorial will include a detailed materials list of everything you'll need to make this project, including quantities and, in most cases, color information (see more about Bead Color Information below).
Substituting with Different Beads or Beading Materials
Many of our designs can be made using comparable beading materials. For example, if our pattern calls for 4mm round pearls, in most cases, you can use different types of 4mm round beads instead (such as 4mm round fire polished beads). Please note: If the pattern is for a bead weaving (or stitched) project, it's typically not recommended to use different sizes of beads than those recommended, as the original design may not work out as intended. You may also substitute recommended materials with your preferred brand (for example using Nymo vs. FireLine thread) unless otherwise noted for a specific reason. For example, if we specifically recommend using TOHO seed beads with a particular project, the project may not work out as well if you substitute and use Delica seed beads instead (which differ in shape).
Bead Color Information
We provide detailed information about the bead colors used for each of the color samples shown above on the Bead Legend / Color Key (or similarly named page) in your purchased pattern. If the tutorial you purchased does not include detailed color information for a particular color sample we used, we apologize (a few of our earliest patterns did not include this information and we no longer have those beads to reference, or they were discontinued by the manufacturer). If this is the case, please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to provide you with general color descriptions. Be sure to let us know which particular color sample you're most interested in.
