Beading Tutorial for How to Make a Colorful Beaded Easter Egg Decor #399

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. When I was super little, my Mom, Lane, would make a game of teaching me to find easter eggs in our front yard (or in the house if the weather wasn’t cooperating) during the weeks leading up to the big Easter egg hunt. This “training” has paid really off. Even now, as an adult, I love to hunt for, and find, things - if she loses her glasses, I’m on it!

Decorating Easter eggs is a fun holiday tradition, and creating permanent keepsake eggs is even more fun. These beautiful and timeless heirloom Beaded Easter Eggs make a gorgeous holiday decoration for your home and/or Easter table. Featuring four colors of 11/0 seed beads stitched around a painted wooden egg, these classically beautiful and elegant eggs (reminiscent of the famous Faberge eggs) will impress and delight folks of all ages. The finished beaded egg measures approximately 2.75” tall x 2” wide (7 x 5.1 cm).

This simple beading pattern includes a detailed materials page, color information, over 160 high-resolution full-color photos and easy to follow step-by-step directions. This design is a more involved project, compared to our a lot of our other designs, but we show and explain each and every step so that beaders of all skill levels, even beginners, can be successful. Thank you for shopping Simple Bead Patterns, and bead happy!

Materials & Quantities Needed

Your purchased beading tutorial will include a detailed materials list of everything you'll need to make this project, including quantities and, in most cases, color information (see more about Bead Color Information below).

Substituting with Different Beads or Beading Materials

Many of our designs can be made using comparable beading materials. For example, if our pattern calls for 4mm round pearls, in most cases, you can use different types of 4mm round beads instead (such as 4mm round fire polished beads). Please note: If the pattern is for a bead weaving (or stitched) project, it's typically not recommended to use different sizes of beads than those recommended, as the original design may not work out as intended. You may also substitute recommended materials with your preferred brand (for example using Nymo vs. FireLine thread) unless otherwise noted for a specific reason. For example, if we specifically recommend using TOHO seed beads with a particular project, the project may not work out as well if you substitute and use Delica seed beads instead (which differ in shape).

Bead Color Information

We provide detailed information about the bead colors used for each of the color samples shown above on the Bead Legend / Color Key (or similarly named page) in your purchased pattern. If the tutorial you purchased does not include detailed color information for a particular color sample we used, we apologize (a few of our earliest patterns did not include this information and we no longer have those beads to reference, or they were discontinued by the manufacturer). If this is the case, please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to provide you with general color descriptions. Be sure to let us know which particular color sample you're most interested in.
