The flat peyote stitch, or gourd stitch, is a versatile beading technique that looks as if it were made on a loom but instead is stitched up with a needle and thread.  This tremendously popular stitch is enjoyable and a great place for new leaders to start.  Don’t let odd count and even count throw you – it simply refers to the number of beads in any given row.   Even count is a bit easier and better for beginners, as odd count requires an extra step when finishing every other row.
