DIY Dog Collar Beaded Leather Beading Pattern #140

This is a very cool dog collar that is completely customizable. It looks like a loom project but is done with beading wire and No Loom! You can stitch in your pet's name or any combination of their name, fun symbols, funny phrase (such as “Santa's Helper” or “Throw The Ball!”), your phone number (so you can eliminate their noisy name tag if you want) or even the name of your favorite sports team. There's no end to the possibilities; you'll want to make several – I have! This one is for Harry, a dog that will live in infamy!

This pattern, featuring over 60 high-resolution full-color photos and easy-to-follow step-by-step directions, will show and tell you how to make your furry, small to medium breed friend a personalized collar 5/8” wide and anywhere from 10” to 16” long (keeping length proportional with the collar width). I include patterns (both wide & narrow) for each alphabet letter and numbers 0-9 as well as some punctuation marks and lots of fun symbols. I also offer some helpful tips for choosing successful color schemes, bead types, and finishes so you get a great result. This design uses a .6 inch (15mm) standard plastic side-release buckle (just like the ones on most pet collars) so taking it on and off is a snap! This collar was designed to be both comfortable and durable and should hold up to regular wear for many years to come. Please Note: This collar was designed as “Pet Jewelry” only and should not be used or relied upon as a restraint, or as a collar you intend to attach a lead or restraint to for walks or any other purpose. That's my disclaimer : ) So go ahead, spoil your furry best friend with a custom collar that will make him or her look bead-utifle and show off your mad beading skills! Thank you for shopping Simple Bead Patterns, and as always, bead happy!

Note: Similar patterns also available in Large, Medium and X-Small sizes (X-Small is pur-fect for cats as well as toy breeds and puppies).

What's Included

The beading patterns offered on this website are written in English. We offer translated beading patterns in French, German, Italian, and Spanish on our Etsy shop - just look for images with country flags at the top.  Please note that all products are downloadable beading instructions that will teach you how to make the sample item shown above.  Nothing will be shipped to your physical address (as it is for downloadable instructions only and does not include any tangible materials or finished pieces of jewelry).

Each of our beading patterns includes a detailed Materials Page that clearly specifies everything you'll need on-hand to make the project (including bead types, sizes, and quantities, as well as any required tools and/or findings).  Each beading pattern features detailed, step-by-step instructions that are written in a clear, simple conversational style.  A full-color close-up photo accompanies each step showing exactly what's happening.

Materials & Quantities Needed

Your purchased beading tutorial will include a detailed materials list of everything you'll need to make this project, including quantities and, in most cases, color information (see more about Bead Color Information below).

Substituting with Different Beads or Beading Materials

Many of our designs can be made using comparable beading materials. For example, if our pattern calls for 4mm round pearls, in most cases, you can use different types of 4mm round beads instead (such as 4mm round fire polished beads). Please note: If the pattern is for a bead weaving (or stitched) project, it's typically not recommended to use different sizes of beads than those recommended, as the original design may not work out as intended. You may also substitute recommended materials with your preferred brand (for example using Nymo vs. FireLine thread) unless otherwise noted for a specific reason. For example, if we specifically recommend using TOHO seed beads with a particular project, the project may not work out as well if you substitute and use Delica seed beads instead (which differ in shape).

Bead Color Information

We provide detailed information about the bead colors used for each of the color samples shown above on the Bead Legend / Color Key (or similarly named page) in your purchased pattern. If the tutorial you purchased does not include detailed color information for a particular color sample we used, we apologize (a few of our earliest patterns did not include this information and we no longer have those beads to reference, or they were discontinued by the manufacturer). If this is the case, please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to provide you with general color descriptions. Be sure to let us know which particular color sample you're most interested in.
