Peyote stitch

The peyote stitch, originally referred to as the gourd stitch, is one of the oldest and most popular off-loom beading techniques.  In addition to basic odd and even count flat peyote stitches, this beloved technique also offers numerous variations including 2 and 3-drop peyote, circular peyote, diagonal peyote, peyote with a twist, tubular peyote, the Cellini spiral stitch.
