Learn how to make a leather cross necklace that appeals to all ages and complements many styles and personalities. We'll show you how to professionally finish off this leather cord cross necklace with cord ends and your choice of clasps. You can also make the cross necklace with or without the center wrap. We added the wrap to both add visual interest and strategically anchor the cross in the center (so the end clasp never slides around to the front and lodges next to the cross). That's a super nice feature, and it looks cool. A great project for beaders of all skill levels, including beginners.
This detailed beading pattern includes a recommended materials list, bead color information, over 35 high-resolution full-color photos, and easy-to-follow, step-by-step directions to ensure your success and enjoyment.Recommended Materials:
- Round cord 1 mm - 2 mm in diameter
- (optional) 10 lb (.5 mm) hemp or cotton cord - used to keep the pendant in the center of the necklace
- Cross pendant - in our silver sample, we used a 13 mm x 22 mm cross that we purchased from Michael's craft store, and in our gold sample, we used an 11 mm x 20 mm cross that we purchased from
ShipwreckBeads.com
- 4 mm - 5 mm open jump rings - used to attach the end clasps to the cord ends
- 2 mm - 4 mm cord ends that wrap around the ends of your cord - since we used 2 mm cord, we used 3 mm cord ends (large enough to wrap around the 2 mm cord)
- End clasps
- Sharp cutters
- Chain nose or flat nose pliers
- (optional) Clear glue - we used G-S Hypo Cement, but you can also use superglue or even clear nail polish in a pinch
- (optional) 5 mm - 6 mm open jump ring
